Justin Timberlake-Rock Your Body

justin-timberlake-2013-suite-tie-650-430.jpg

This is an early video and song of the career of Justin Timberlake, called 'Rock Your Body'. The genre of this video is pop, and it includes generic conventions that would be found in pop music videos. For example, Justin Timberlake is the main focus of this video, and is in every single shot. This is a convention of a pop video, as the artists are usually in the vast majority of shots in these videos. There are also background dancers, and the use of lip syncing throuhgout the video. There is alos no narrative to the video, its just a performance. The artis and the dancers also reflect the pop convention

The setting for this video is very simple, it is just one room with walls lighting up. The colour of the walls constantly change throughout the video, with regards to the beat of the song. This emphasises the song as a catchy and upbeat song. The director probably used a simple setting to maintain focus on the song and the artist.

Justin Timberlake wears the same costume throuhgout the whole video, and is in all white, with a vest jacket and trousers. This contrasted with the dancers who were all in black, in order to make the artist stand out. These clothes may of also been worn as they were trendy or popualar at the time, which is another pop convention of being modern and up to date.

The props used in this video were lights and a hexagon shaped pod that held the cameras. There is probably a low use of props to make the artist stand out in the video. All pop videos usually do this as the video is meant to be about the artist primarily. As for the body language of this video, it contains a lot of movement, as most of the video is dancing. some of the movement is also sexual, which fits in with the song name and lyrics. The artists body language is confident with the song meaning. this fits in with the pop genre as its easy to dance to and catchy
