Thinking Out Loud-Ed Sheeran
In the music video, Thinking out loud by Ed Sheeran, you can see Ed and a woman dancing to the song as if it was their first dance after the wedding. The whole of the music video is based on the dance which partially relates to the song but unless you look into detail of the lyrics and visuals it doesn't specifically relate to the song in anyway. If you know what the song is about (finding and staying in love forever) then you could find a way of linking the music video performance and the music quite easily.
After linking back to Goodwin's theory, I have realised that the music video director and the artist haven't applied much of it to their song. First of all the link between the lyrics and visuals, there isn't consistent evidence of this throughout the video, only on some parts that I can see. For example, when the lyrics "Take me into your loving arms" are said, he puts his arms out and pulls her into him. Also when he says "Place your hand on my beating heart" she places her hand on his chest to symbolise them lyrics. Other than them parts, there is no consistent link to the lyrics and the visuals.
The music and visuals do not link either as you cannot even see Ed Sheeran singing the song, it just looks like he is dancing to the song. If this song was using Goodwin's theory to make the music video then Ed Sheeran would've probably been singing in the video. The music and visuals are contradicting although there are some parts of it that link, for example when the music gets faster the movement in the dance seems to be a little bit quicker.
None of the genre characteristics are shown in the music video either, like Ed Sheeran is mainly an acoustic pop singer, to show this you would expect to see some sign of instruments (guitar) on set but there isn't at all.
There is a link to the notions of looking because there is a woman in the video who is dancing around and she is used to help sell the music video and to make it more popular to watch.
This music video in my opinion would be a lot worse if it wasn't Ed Sheeran that was in the video dancing because then there would be no link to the video and the artist at all.
