Mechanical Bull-Kings Of Leon

This is the album cover for Mechanical Bull by the Kings of Leon, and it is clear that this is similar to the advertisement for the album, as it uses the same font for where the bands name is written and it also has the album title in the neon, which is portraying an American diner, perhaps because the band is American. Like the advert, the Album clearly displays its title and the band name. The album contrasts some typical album covers as the band name is not in large font, and there is no image of the band, which shows they are a rock/indie rock band as unlike pop artists, rock bands tend to not feature on their album covers. Because the album cover and magazine advert have links with each other, it is easily recognizable for the audience, and can reach an easy selling point from this because it gives the album a consistency when viewed by the audience, as not a lot has changed, by maintaining fonts and logos.

This is the magazine advert for Mechanical Bull, by the Kings of Leon, which contains relevant information for the advert, such as the release date of the album, the name of the band, and the name of the album. This is an effective way for the band to promote their album and the band itself, as it clearly shows what the album is called and who its buy so fans of the band will be aware its by them and will purchase it.

Here are two images from the official music video, and the official lyric video of the first released song in Kings of Leon's album Mechanical Bull, Supersoaker. From these images it is apparent that the American diner theme has been used again and the name of the band is displayed on the drum in the video. The video also is a performance video which is typical convention for a rock band, as they generally have performance videos rather that narratives or cameos. The music video for Supersoaker also has links to both the advertisement and the album cover, showing that as merchandise and as a brand to sell the band to its target audience, all promotions of this albums link together so its easier for people to relate to the album as conventions have been shown in all forms of media the album is represented on
