Jonas Akerlund
Jonas Akerlund is a Swedish music video director, born in 1965, who is very well known in the music industry as he has directed some very famous music videos by some well known artists. He has a long list of artists that he has directed music videos for and he has won awards for his excellent work on music videos. some of his most well known work would be the videos he directed for Magic by Coldplay, Beautiful day by U2, Rain fall down by The Rolling Stones and Moves like Jagger by Maroon 5. He also won a Grammy award for the video Ray of Light by Madonna.
Akerlund started off his music career as part of a Swedish metal band but obviously preferred directing the music videos which he made a better career of in the end. Even though he was into metal music, that isn't the sort of music that he directs the videos to (as you can tell by the arsenal of artists he has directed videos for).
In the video 'Magic' by Coldplay, Akerlund has linked the video to Goodwin's theory throughout the whole of it and as he has linked the visuals with the lyrics and you can notice this right from the beginning. for example the sing is called Magic and the music video is of a magic show being performed on the lead singer Chris Martin. This already shows clear links been the song title and the visuals throughout. The video also links with Voyeurism because it shows him performing and on stage in the video while he is performing magic and people at the show are watching him, and this must represent what his life is constantly like with people knowing who he is wherever he goes.
