Blame It On Me-George Ezra

According to Goodwin's Theory of analysis there are six key aspects to a music video, of which George Ezra's video to "Blame It On Me" follows.

This video appears to follow Goodwin's Theory. This videos is a Performance and Narrative video, and doesn't necessarily represent a specific genre. It follows the theory of having a demand for close ups of the main artist, as throughout the video it is focused on him as he walks down a street. There is also an intertextual reference at the beginning of this video to the wizard of oz, as the main artist is asked "Are you sure you want to follow the yellow brick road?" indicating there being a threat on the walk George Ezra takes in the video. This entices viewers to watch the whole of the video and allows them to understand the intertextual reference.

The visuals of a music video tend to be in time with the lyrics or the pace of the song which is represented in this video, as it is quite a slow song which is reflected by the speed the main artist walks down the road. There is also a variety of camera angles used in the video which reflect the music, lyrics and visuals link. There is an establishing shot used to show the viewer the surroundings of the video, and throughout the video there are close ups used to express the main artists feeling as he walks down the "Yellow brick road". There is a long shot used to show that there is a rain cloud following the main artist, whereas the people around him are relaxing in the sun indicating he is the one having a bad day, which also links with the song name and lyrics "Blame It On Me". There is also the use of a shot reverse shot to reflect him looking towards two girls walking on the other side of the road, perhaps showing that he likes her, but otherwise dictating that he is alone as there is two of them.

The lighting is natural throughout the whole video as the events of the video are everyday happenings, and the location remains the same, so the whole video has a more basic and natural style to it in order to show it is a narrative video and this also backs up the lyrics to the video as he is having a bad but normal day.
